Mounted Photograph - This photo came captioned Parliament Buildings, Wellington, New Zealand, 2nd February 1901 - It shows the grounds in front of the General Assembly Library packed with people and in the bottom right hand corner a sign reads "order of service" - Dignitaries, including clergy, appear on the steps of the General Assembly Library Building - It is possible, therefore, that this was a service in Honour of the sixth contingent, New Zealand Troops, which left for South Africa on 30 January 1901 - (The date 2 February 1901, is too late for the proclamation of King Edward VII as King, which took place before a similar crowd in Parliament grounds on 28 January 1901) - Print 59cm x 43cm ORDER DETAILS »
