(1.) Access to record list
Access to the record list for this series is open.
(2.) Access to records
In 1995 the records in this series were checked by staff from the Department of Social Welfare (Child Youth and Family Services). Some were found to contain sensitive client information. In addition, some files were recorded as missing at the time of the 1995 review, and therefore could not be examined for restricted material by the agency. Entries remain in the list for these files, in case they are located at a future date. They may also contain sensitive client information.
These records have been marked as restricted, and will remain restricted until such time as they are checked and opened by the agency responsible for managing applications for access, when they will be marked as ‘open’ access.
Those records cleared for access have been marked as 'open'.
Access to restricted records is with the written permission of the agency responsible for managing applications for access.
Please note that (with the exceptions detailed above) all records were reviewed by the Ministry of Social Welfare, and restriction decisions made at individual file level. It is therefore possible for some volumes of a file to be restricted while other volumes are not. In addition, there are instances where material which would normally be available for viewing (e.g. newspaper clippings) was attached to pages containing sensitive information, and consequently the file concerned has been restricted.
Applications for access to restricted records should be directed, in writing, to:
Ministerial and Executive Services, National Office, Ministry of Social Development, PO Box 1556, WELLINGTON 6140
Restriction does not expire.
