The series incudes minutes for various medical research committees.
Originating as a committee of the Department of Health formed in 1937, the Medical Research Council was not formally established until the Medical Council Act 1950 came into force on 1 April 1951.
The Health Research Council of New Zealand (HRC) was the major organisation supporting health research in New Zealand, responsible for distributing and administering Government monies provided for this purpose, and acting as the national co-ordinating body for health research.
