GENERAL

The Transalpine Fire Region delivered fire and emergency services through 66 volunteer fire brigades, supported by 3 paid fire districts, operating out of 75 fire stations in the Canterbury/Westland region.

The New Zealand Fire Service had responsibility for Fire Safety, Fire Prevention, and putting out fires when they occurred.
