
Consists of the letters received by the Maori Land Administration Department, which was the central administrative body for the Maori Land Councils established by the Maori Land Administration Act 1900. This series includes correspondence about the Maori Land Councils' membership and proceedings; requests for the Governor's approval of leases; descriptions of concerns that an iwi (tribe) would like the Government to address; enquiries seeking identification of the blocks that have been vested in a particular Land Council; and forms and reports supporting the general operation of the Maori Land Administration Department and Maori Land Councils.
