|
Air New Zealand was a limited liability company that operated international air services. It also operated domestic air services from 1978 when it was merged with the state-owned domestic airline, the New Zealand National Airways Corporation (NAC). The government had partial ownership of the airline from 1940 to 1961 and was the sole owner from 1961 to 1989, when it was privatised. In 2001 the government became the majority owner of Air New Zealand again after it provided the airline with an $885 million rescue package to save it from collapse.
