Important message for all Christchurch Office of Archives New Zealand customers (Updated 7 July)

Please note the following important dates:

Reading Room Closure (Peterborough Street)

Monday 16 July to Friday 3 August inclusive – three week closure for final stage of move.

New Reading Room Opens at Wigram (15 Harvard Avenue)

Monday 6 August.

We Are Moving to Wigram

The Christchurch Office is currently moving from Peterborough Street to our new repository in Wigram at 15 Harvard Avenue, near the Air Force Museum. The move is expected to take another four weeks and there will continue to be some disruption to our services during this time.

The Reading Room at Peterborough Street will be closing for three weeks from Monday 16 July, before re-opening in Wigram on Monday 6 August. Please note that as individual archives are moved from Peterborough Street to Wigram, they will not be available for viewing until we are open in the new building.

A significant proportion of the collection has already been moved to Wigram, so we now strongly recommend that any research be postponed until August.

We may be able to allow limited emergency access to the Deeds Room material during the three week closure, (16 July to 3 August, inclusive), but this will not be possible once those records are in transit during the final stage of the move – so please contact us before coming in:

Please also note that there will be no parking available on site at Peterborough Street during the move.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. This message may be updated further. Please keep an eye on our website, Archway, and Facebook or contact the Christchurch Office on 03 377 0760 and email if you have any questions.

Auckland Regional Office - Lighting Upgrade
